A customer using Leica RTC360 and Leica Cyclone 3DR for large-scale factory digitization is unable to generate meshes in Prevu3D. Leica Cyclone 3DR is used for noise reduction workflows. Leica Cyclone 3DR does not allow our Leica pipeline to utilized.
Current investigation indicates that Cyclone 3DR modifies or removes critical E57 metadata required by the Prevu3D ingestion and validation pipeline, specifically:
Manufacturer identification
Structured scan metadata
The customer currently must use the workaround:
REGISTER → 3DR → REGISTER
While functional, this workflow is operationally expensive and difficult to scale across enterprise deployments.
The request is to evaluate and potentially support direct ingestion and mesh generation from Cyclone 3DR processed E57 outputs by:
Determining minimum metadata requirements for successful validation
Evaluating whether normals and panorama data already contained in the files are sufficient
Assessing whether missing manufacturer metadata can be reconstructed or inferred
Standardizing support for Leica Cyclone 3DR workflows where possible
Business Context:
Customer: Morinaga Milk Industry
Deployment scope: 10 factories in Japan
Current status: 3 factories already scanned
Existing contract: 2TB processing capacity
Expansion potential: Additional or increased budget expected next fiscal year
This request has strategic importance because enabling streamlined Leica 3DR workflows may improve scalability for enterprise manufacturing customers performing large-scale industrial scanning and noise reduction preprocessing.
